Recipe Box Project

A couple years ago my aunt flew in for a visit and brought with her my grandma and great granny’s old recipe boxes. She and my Mom spent hours going through and saving every single scrap that had their handwriting.

My baby brothers are getting older and soon they’ll be leaving home, and I’d like to send them off with something special. So I’m gathering all our family recipes from as many siblings, cousins, and scattered family as possible, writing them out by hand, and putting them here.

By the end I’m hoping to have a hundred or so created and illustrated so that I can hand my brothers a binder full of family when they leave the nest, and any of my family or friends who would like a recipe can click on the photo and print off their own.

I think it’s going to be a fun project!

I’m starting off with some easy, low-stakes recipes first, and working my way up to the family Lebanese recipes, but if you’d like to check out the first one, here’s my Vanilla Skillet Cake!
