28January25 - Imploding

Every platform that I opened this morning is a tsunami of stories about the Federal Government imploding. Questionably legal (or outright illegal) orders being handed down, whole departments being hijacked, many many life-sustaining and life-saving programs being halted abruptly. The Democrats not even bothering to pretend they’re fighting back.

And yet, at the same time, there’s a drumbeat of advice saying, “Limit your news! Don’t dwell on what you can’t change! We must make intentional room for joy, connection, and play because that is resistance as well!”. Meanwhile the counterwind of advice is, “Don’t look away! That’s what the German populace did, and how the Nazis won for so long!”

Since before the election we’ve known that “shock and awe” and “flooding the zone” are this administration’s priority. To overwhelm to the point of paralysis. Knowing that, and knowing how to navigate that are two different things.

We’ll get there eventually — find our equilibrium, but I do actually envy everyone who fought fascists before the 24hr news cycle and social media.
